By Atty.Shereen Gail C. Yu-Pamintuan
October 2, 2016 - Angeles City

League of Cities of the Philippines and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has directed the Angeles City Police to intensify operations to "eradicate illegal drugs in this city." He also directed the Angeles City Anti-Illegal Drugs Abuse Council (ACADAC) to "continue grassroots education campaign on the menace of illegal drugs."

Pamintuan, the multi-awarded city mayor, has been in the forefront of the campaign against criminality particularly illegal drugs even since his first two terms as local chief executive from 1992 to 1995 and 1995 to 1998l and his comeback first term in 2010.

Under Pamintuan's leadership, Angeles City has been a perennial recipient of the country's best anti-illegal drug abuse council award.

It could be recalled that Pamintuan, who is now on his 5th term overall as city mayor, personally led the apprehension of several criminals operating in this city including some riding-in-tandem elements who died in a shoot out with the police and the mayor's security team.

"We started this war against illegal drugs in 1992 and again since 2010. There should be no let up against illegal drugs. This is the worst menace to our society." Pamintuan declared.
