League of Cities of the Philippines Fights Impeachment Vs. President Duterte

Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, the National President of the League of Cities of the Philippines, announced that the league is ready to rally its constituents to fight the impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte. "While we know that this complaint has no basis and will not prosper, we also view this as part of the destabilization plot against the duly-elected president by a handful of political and private personalities who have been affected by the ongoing reforms being implemented by the administration," Pamintuan said.

The LCP is composed of all 145 city mayors of the country. It has the capacity to mobilize millions in different areas nationwide. "We shall be ready to thwart all attempts to destabilize the Duterte administration. The president was elected overwhelmingly and by the highest number of votes ever. Eighty percent or more of our people are in favor of the reforms and programs of the president. Only people with selfish motives will join such moves," Pamintuan said.
