LCP and the PPP Center signs Memorandum of Understanding

By LCP Secretariat
July 18, 2017 - Quezon City

Last 18 July 2017, The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) formally forged its partnership with the Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines (PPP Center). The partnership aimed to strengthen and promote access to funding of infrastructure projects at the local level to accelerate local economic development among Philippine cities. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place at the PPP Center office in Quezon City. LCP President and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and PPP Center Executive Director Usec. Ferdinand Pecson represented the said institutions.

The MOU allowed the two institutions to cooperate in promoting accessing infrastructure projects at the local level through PPP. The PPP Center has observed of the low availment of its programs and services particular from the local government units (LGUs). This became the driving force for the PPP Center to update its existing LGU Assistance Strategy.

To commence the cooperation, the PPP Center and the LCP conducted a pilot stakeholder consultation workshop in General Santos City for the SOCCSKSARGEN cities last 01 August 2017. The consultation workshop captured feedback from various stakeholders involved in local infrastructure development.

Apart from assisting the PPP Center in the consultation workshop, LCP provided support to the PPP Center in the development of a survey questionnaire and facilitated a stakeholder consultation survey to all member cities. LCP will also provide inputs and feedback to the Stakeholder Engagement Protocol Document to be developed by PPP Center.

LCP and the PPP Center look forwardto the possibility of collaborating in other potential projects aimed at strengthening and promoting PPP to LGUs.
