PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS ENVIRONMENT

The LCP pioneers and implements different environmental programs. The LCP is the first local government association to put up a dedicated unit to deal with environmental concerns. The LCP Environment Program was created on April 2005. It has a focal mayor to advocate environmental issues in the National Executive Board and a full-time technical staff.

The Program is the central arm in providing services to member-cities along the areas of environmental policy development and advocacy, training and technical assistance, research, information management, and environmental communications.

The Program is envisioned to build partnerships, institutionalize environmental projects and develop and sustain LCP capacity. Among its main thrusts are to create replicable models and to provide and facilitate a venue for sharing of best practices in the areas of solid waste management, air quality, water and wastewater management, coastal resource management, upland development,  disaster risk reduction, climate change, and other cross cutting environmental concerns.
