LCP participates in the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) side event

Quezon City, 22 April 2022 - the Philippines' Voluntary Subnational Review (VSR)team, headed by LCP Executive Director Veronica Hitosis, participated in the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development side event. The APFSD is an annual and inclusive intergovernmental forum and a regional platform that supports the 2030 Agenda. The side event was organized by the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), together with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) with the theme "Bridging the Gap: Experience of Subnational Government in Reporting and Monitoring SDGs Achievement." The program had separate panel discussions on Voluntary Subnational Review (VSR) and Voluntary Local Review (VLR).

(Ci-Cap) Project to complement the Iloilo city effort's in improving education system

Iloilo City, 31 March 2022 - Representatives from the League of Cities of the Philippines Secretariat, headed by its Executive Director Ms. Veronica Hitosis and the Education Governance Manager of The Asia Foundation, Mr. Quintin Atienza met with Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Trenas last 29 March 2022 to discuss the Year 3 activities of the Cities System Capacity Development (Ci-Cap) Project to complement the city's efforts in improving its education system for all Ilonggos and support the city's vision of becoming a top highly urbanized city in 2028 while also championing education, particularly at the primary level.

The League of Cities of the Philippines successfully concluded its first hybrid National Executive Board (NEB) Meeting yesterday, 25 November 2021, at the Mindanao Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Pasay City. LCP organized the meeting to discuss important issues surrounding the safe and sustainable opening of local economies. Invited resource speakers include DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma and FDA Director-General Eric Domingo. They provided updates on the safe opening of schools and the status of administering booster shots.
