Philippine Sanitation Alliance (PSA) & The Local Initiative for Affordable Wastewater (LINAW) Projects

The PSA and LINAW projects provide technical assistance to select cities in developing innovative solutions through decentralized wastewater systems that use low-cost technologies to reduce water pollution and comply with the requirements of the Philippine Clean Water Act. The LINAW project started in 2003 in four cities - Naga, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and Muntinlupa with funding from the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership.

Together with stakeholders, the cities have identified sources of wastewater pollution and developed solutions using low-cost technology. LINAW helped in the project development and design. The project also assisted the cities in developing social marketing campaigns and accessing projects by developing public-private partnerships.

Meanwhile, The PSA has worked closely with LCP in mainstreaming information and in generating best practices on sanitation and wastewater treatment to LCP member-cities through workshops, site visits, knowledge exchanges, training sessions, and the website.
