Promoting Interlocal Cooperation in the Manila Bay Master Plan

October 19, 2020 - Quezon City

The League of Cities of the Philippines, together with VNG International, will host a webinar entitled "Promoting Interlocal Cooperation in the Manila Bay Master Plan" this Friday, 23 October 2020.

The role of local governments in implementing the Manila Bay Sustainable Development Master Plan (MSDMP) will significantly determine the plan’s long-term success, especially when it comes to Manila Bay’s sustainability and resilience. Because of this, new forms of cooperation among LGUs and between the local and national governments will be very important in reinforcing the master plan’s proposed Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Framework, which will serve as the basis for local development plans in the Manila Bay Region.

In this regard, the upcoming webinar will discuss key points from the MBSDMP that are relevant to local government units in the Manila Bay Region with the help of our partners from the National Economic and Development Authority. It will also explore opportunities for interlocal cooperation among these LGUs. Meanwhile, our partners from the VNG International will discuss the Dutch experience of promoting and strengthening interlocal cooperation to address local issues. Should you wish to take part in the online session, you may email the LCP Secretariat at league.cities.philippines@gmail.com.
