RE : FREE MODULAR TRAININGS OF THE FOUNDATION FOR MEDIA ALTERNATIVES (FMA) ON ELECTRONIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN OR eVAW

DATE : 30 September 2013

This has reference to the modular trainings for cities that the Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA) is offering. The Foundation for Media Alternatives is a civil society organization existing for 25 years advocating for privacy rights, internet rights, open e-Governance and electronic violence against women (eVAW). The eVAW includes incidences such as cyber stalking, unauthorized posting of photos and videos, blackmail and sexual harassment.

Recognizing the crucial roles of the different stakeholders, including local government units, academe, and women’s organization, in all the concerns affecting its citizen, FMA would like to share the results of the series of consultation, discussion and researches it has conducted in the issues related to VAW and information communication technology (ICT).

The training is a half-day session, either morning or afternoon, at the determination of the LGUs with 20-30 participants that can be given with primers and brochures on eVAW prevention. There will be no professional fee for the resource speaker as the FMA is doing it for free. As a counterpart, the LGUs are requested to provide for the venue and invitation of the participants including the costs of travel expenses and hotel accommodation (if there's any) of the eVAW expert/resource speaker.

Should you have queries or if your city is interested in availing this training, you may contact directly FMA and look for Ms. Liza Garcia at tel. no. (02) 435-6684 or thru email address at gesuiella@yahoo.com.

For your guidance.
