RE :

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS/PERSENTATIONS TO THE 2014 INTERNATIONAL RIVER SUMMIT

DATE:

April 02, 2014

The LCP, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-River Basin Control Office (DENR-RBCO) and the Marikina city government are organizing the 2014 International River Summit on November 19-21, 2014 at the Marikina City Convention Center. The theme is ‘Reviving Rivers, Rebuilding Civilizations.

The Summit enjoins the most important river stakeholders- global, national, and local authorities, policy experts, river managers from public and private sectors, the academe, leaders in clean water technology, advocates and students – in facing the development challenges of our world’s rivers today.

The Summit will also foster information and knowledge exchanges on the latest technology and approaches on river basin governance from different participating countries. It seeks to discuss issues and concerns on river management, share innovative solutions, and synergize strategies to pursue river management issues and concerns.

We encourage our member-cities to participate in this global event. One concrete way is by presenting your current local innovations on river management or any recognized river-related programs during the three-day summit proper. The summit can very well provide a platform for your city to present your best practice before an international audience.

Interested cities may submit an abstract summarizing the proposed content presentation. See attached for the complete submission guidelines. Please fax the abstract at tel. no. 02.470-7210 or email at league.cities.philippines@gmail.com (Attn: IRS Abstract) on or before May 09, 2014, Friday.  For more information, you may contact our Environment Officer, Alvidon Asis or Paulie Mora at 02.470.6813 or 02.470.6837.
