Liveable Cities Labs session on Resilience

By LCP Secretariat
November 4, 2020 - Quezon City

The LCC Lab on Basic Infrastructure for Better Liveability will be focusing on Basic Infrastructure for Better Liveability where we will zero in on basic services needed for a locality. While we discuss liveability, we must first address the essentials for living in order to determine a city to be truly liveable. These are integral components of poverty reduction since they address the basic needs that make a city liveable, sustainable, equitable, and accessible to all. These include services such as electricity and energy, water and sanitation, refuse and waste removal, and telecommunications, and internet services.

In the session called "Basic Infrastructure for Better Livability," Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla showcased her city’s development projects which were widely based on the city’s comprehensive development plan and its vision of having a “progressive and livable city with responsible citizenry.” Bacoor's local infrastructure and facilities address the LGU's key priorities in governance, health, education, social service and protection, and land transportation.

Mayor Lani also presented the LGU’s future plans including the Bacoor Diversion Road, the Bacoor DRRM Building, the LRT Cavite Extension, and the Bacoor Reclamation Project.

Meanwhile, Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Dy’s presentation focused on the LGUs development projects that are rooted on the city’s commitment to localize the UN SDGs and the LGU’s vision of becoming a "Smarter Cauayan City."

Such projects include the city’s resettlement areas which provide community housing for the homeless; the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program; provision of QR codes at the barangay level for household profiling; centralized barangay wifi networks; and the development of smart mobile platforms to provide updated information and enable online transactions in the city.
